Baseball America predicts that USC will not be awarded a regional in Columbia because of our poor finish. However, it was also stated that it will be hard for the NCAA to pass up USC as a regional host because of the great fan support and full stadium.

The blog asks the question: “Will Georgia Have the SEC’s Best Offense in 2013?”

Nevermind the arguments of whether the answer is UGA, Bama, A&M, or someone else; buried in one of the opinions is this tidbit:

Georgia may boast the most complete, most talented pro-style attack in the nation and the only thing that will stop Mark Richt’s squad this year won’t be a Heisman winning spread offense, it will be a Heisman winning defensive line — like the one in Columbia, S.C.

http://www.athlonsports.com/college-football/will-georgia-have-secs-best-offense-2013

USC already ranked in the top 5 of 2 preseason polls

South Carolina has made its way into the top five of a pair of preseason football polls exactly 14 weeks from the start to the 2013 season.

Athlon Sports Magazine named the Gamecocks the No. 5 team in its preseason Top 25 poll, announced Thursday.

That comes one day after The Sporting News’ cover revealed that magazine had South Carolina No. 3 in its early rankings.

Clowney was voted by Athlon as a preseason All-American on the first team. Three Gamecocks earned preseason All-SEC honors, including Clowney on the first team; and tight end Rory Anderson and defensive tackle Kelcy Quarles on the second team.

In addition, the defensive line unit was rated No. 1 in the country and best in the SEC. The quarterback unit was ranked fourth in the conference. The defensive backs unit was ranked fifth in the conference.

http://www.gogamecocks.com/2013/05/23/366096/gamecocks-ranked-in-top-5-of-two.html

GO COCKS!

Season can’t start soon enough (Some funny stuff)

If you are like me, in this void of football info, you are searching for ANYthing…

I found this. Some funny and/or interesting excerpts below (click link to read all):

Fourteen weeks and one day until South Carolina and North Carolina kick off the season at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, S.C.

We’ve debated whether South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney or Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel would be the first pick of a college football fantasy draft.

The Head Ball Coach is on the homestretch of his offseason golf regimen, probably still cursing a missed putt from April.

Michigan running backs are already lobbying not to play South Carolina in a bowl game.

Clowney defied all odds and hung around for his senior year. How good would THAT team be? A thoroughly seasoned Dylan Thompson throwing the ball to a more experienced receiving corps. An experienced RB (odds are on Davis). AND Clowney staying could be used as a recruiting tool for DaShawn Hand, who admittedly wants to model his game after Clowney’s. Put Clowney on one end, Hand on the other and look out. That would be an unstoppable combination if there ever was one.

Alas, one can dream…

(Note: this does not mean I think Clowney leaving signals the end of our program)
